I've been quiet this month. One of the reasons for that is because I've been participating in National Novel Writing Month. And I can hardly believe it, but I finished a (very) rough first draft of a memoir. It's the bones for a script of a graphic memoir, Material World, all about my life and my relationships with material - fabric, paper - but also the philosophical concept of materialism and how that's related to the loss of my parents. It's something I've been working on for over a year but this month (and the support of NaNoWriMo KW, the KW Writer's Alliance and KPL's NaNoWriMo campaign) really turbo-charged my writing.
It was anguish getting through some parts, some eras of my life that are better left unexamined, but for completion's sake I got it all down and I'm super proud of myself and motivated to start editing (and editing and editing).
