Thank The Lake For Its Silver

Thank The Lake For Its Silver

A giclee print of my collage Thank The Lake For Its Silver, 8"x10" with a 1" border, digital print on matte photo paper.

Thank The Lake For Its Silver: Inspired by silver, water, light, and swans. The background image is of Silver Lake (one of the few bodies of water in Waterloo, a manmade lake in Waterloo park) from a 1950s postcard image from the archives at Waterloo Public Library. A post mark can be seen ontop the image, showing that someone mailed this particular postcard. Silver lake used to be home to swans, one of the most magical birds we have. The text is inspired by the lyrics in the U.S. Girls song Blesss This Mess, which are "Thank the sky for the deluge". It reminded me of how grateful I am for water in my life - how cleansing it is when it rains, and how clarifying it is to sit by a lake on a sunny day and watch silver twinkles dance on the surface.
